Abstract
Osteoporosis is one of the complications that affects patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). To treat this complication, denosumab is one of the prescription drugs. We investigated articles with the keywords of “CKD” OR “Chronic Kidney Disease” AND “Denosumab” in the title in PubMed database. Evidence shows the advantages of using denosumab over bisphosphonate in CKD patients. Also, some studies stated that this drug does not have a negative effect on kidney function and its effectiveness is the same in people with different kidney function. The common complication of taking this drug is hypocalcemia, which can be controlled with appropriate approaches in these patients. It is also important to pay attention to adherence and continuity of medication. Some studies also stated that this drug is contraindicated in CKD patients (stage 4 and 5).
